Escondido World-Record Bass Fishing
For some exciting fishing for not only bass, but trout and
catfish, visit Escondido's Dixon Lake Park. This city-owned recreation area is
keenly managed. There's even a campground that's got breath-taking views, has
all the necessities, and is a good place to stay and save money at the same
time. If you're going fishing for the world-record bass, then spring and fall
are your best times to go. The 25-1 pound "The Beast" is still
lurking in the depths of Lake Dixon. This bass is being sought after on a daily
basis. The park is open at 6 AM, and closes at sunset. Camping is year-round.
Nearby, The Daley Ranch is a popular locals hangout for
getting excersise. Biking, hiking, and just enjoying the outdoors is a popular
pasttime for these people who live nearby. The park is a jewel. You can bring
the kids where they can play on the playgrounds, go fishing with you, or let
them feed all the squirrels and birds in the park. They'll swarm you for the
food. Bring your camera. Not far away is the Wild Animal Park. For the best
visit here, spend all day there. There's a lot to see. The cooler months are
best unless you enjoy warm weather and walking a lot. Highly recommend both
places if you find yourself near Escondido.
